Baseball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. McKinney Boyd Broncos

The Carlsbad Lancers will head out to take on the McKinney Boyd Broncos at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

While Lancers fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They were the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over Arlington Heights on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lancers have posted since March 26, 2024.

Weston Thornbury tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ayden Mu?oz and Lucas Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Mu?oz scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Johnson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Tyler Ward, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, McKinney Boyd made easy work of Braswell on Monday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
