Softball Game Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. East Wilkes Cardinals

Elkin is 0-10 against East Wilkes since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Buckin' Elks will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Elkin has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Elkin managed to slip by South Stokes the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Buckin' Elks lost 17-1 to the Sauras on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Elkin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Gentry, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, East Wilkes came tearing into Friday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Granite Bears. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

East Wilkes' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Elkin, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
