Two dominant signal callers in Danny Twomey and Carson Miller are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cornwall Central Dragons will square off against the Rye Garnets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cornwall Central's defense has only allowed 9.9 points per game this season, so Rye's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Cornwall Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They managed a 34-28 win over Niskayuna. Cornwall Central's victory was all the more impressive since the Silver Warriors were averaging only 13.58 points allowed on the season.

Jordan Bishop produced another solid performance rushing for 145 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 104 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Aaden Hershberger, who picked up 102 receiving yards and one score.
Cornwall Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Niskayuna to a completion percentage of just 48%. The Dragons have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.
Cornwall Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lekeaka Fonkem and Rich Roohan. Roohan got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rye put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Minisink Valley 42-14. Given the Garnets' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Warriors are ranked 29th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rye had a senior duo take command as Charlie Garnett rushed for 88 yards and a pair of TDs and Henry Shoemaker picked up 132 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Rye's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Cornwall Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Cornwall Central has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 189 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rye struggles in that department as they've been averaging 213.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Cornwall Central ended up a good deal behind Rye in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, losing 41-22. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
