Softball Recap: El Dorado Comes Up Short

After flying high against Covina last Saturday, El Dorado came back down to earth. El Dorado fell just short of the La Habra Highlanders by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Hawks of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Emily Yoon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amy Cornelius was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Cherms, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

El Dorado's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for La Habra, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

El Dorado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-0 victory against Villa Park on the 27th. As for La Habra, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Sunny Hills on the 27th.
