Preview: Gladewater Bears vs. Hughes Springs Mustangs
Gladewater is 4-0 against Hughes Springs since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Gladewater Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Hughes Springs Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gladewater has six straight victories, Hughes Springs has 19 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Gladewater posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Sabine with a sharp 65-42 victory.
Meanwhile, Hughes Springs lost to New Diana at home by a decisive 37-21 margin on Friday. Hughes Springs has not had much luck with New Diana recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Gladewater's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-12. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.44 points. As for Hughes Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
Gladewater strolled past Hughes Springs when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 62-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gladewater since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
