Softball Preview: Robinson Bulldogs vs. Carson Cougars
The Robinson Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Carson Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Robinson is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Robinson fell victim to a tough 16-3 loss at the hands of East Rowan.
Robinson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aniyah Jones, who went 1-for-2 with a home run.
Meanwhile, Carson came into Thursday's contest having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past A.L. Brown 8-7. The victory was just what Carson needed coming off of a 10-0 defeat in their prior match.
Carson got a big performance out of Caroline Snow, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Hedrick, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Robinson's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Carson, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.
Robinson was able to grind out a solid victory over Carson in their previous meeting back in February, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Robinson since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
