Football Recap: Arkoma Comes Up Short

Arkoma extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-6. They lost 52-27 to the Webbers Falls Warriors. The Mustangs lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-14 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Arkoma lost, don't look at Scout Smith. Despite the final result, he picked up 82 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Smith also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Keith Niles got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Arkoma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Smith and Niles, who each picked up one interception apiece. Niles got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

As for Webbers Falls, the win got them back to even at 4-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

Brutus Robinson had a dynamite game, rushing for 146 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 115 yards and one TD. Those 146 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Barger, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries.

Arkoma wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 62-18 defeat against Copan on the 7th. As for Webbers Falls, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-0 victory against Gans on the 7th.
