Basketball Game Preview: Richland Rams vs. Chestnut Ridge Lions

The Richland Rams will head out to challenge the Chestnut Ridge Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Richland is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 28, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against Somerset as Richland made off with a 75-52 win. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Chestnut Ridge waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Bisons by a score of 69-56. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Bisons are ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chestnut Ridge pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.6 points over those games. As for Richland, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Things could have been worse for Richland, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-56 loss to Chestnut Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Richland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
