Baseball Recap: Salem Academy Charter Wins Going Away Against Excel Academy Charter

Salem Academy Charter barely beat Excel Academy Charter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Navigator blew past the Wolves 12-1 on Wednesday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Navigator this season.

Danny Silk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Isaac Solano was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Salem Academy Charter is undefeated when Solano posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jose Reyna, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Salem Academy Charter is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Excel Academy Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem Academy Charter will venture away from home to challenge Cathedral at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Excel Academy Charter, they will head out to face off against Chelsea at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
