Highland managed to keep up with Waterloo until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Highland was dealt a 43-14 defeat at the hands of Waterloo. Highland was not able to make up for their loss to Waterloo from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Highland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carter Harris picked up 46 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 53 yards.

Waterloo had a senior duo take command as Derez Sayles gained 130 total yards and three touchdowns and Conrad Lindhorst threw for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes. Sayles is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Highland's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Waterloo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
