Softball Recap: Lawrence Central Takes a Loss

Lawrence Central had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-19 to make it five. They came up short against the Living Water Homeschool Marlins, falling 9-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 17-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Living Water Homeschool, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Living Water Homeschool's part, Nora Levy made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Levy has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Macy Bush was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Susie Drake was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence Central will head out to take on Warren Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Living Water Homeschool, they will face off against North Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marlins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
