Baseball Recap: Arleta Comes Up Short

Arleta had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it four. They lost 10-4 to the Grant Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-1 defeat on Wednesday.

Arleta saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Vaca, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

As for Grant, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Grant's side, Damian Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grant got a big performance out of Sonny Robledo, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Robledo a new career-high. Matthew Gonzalez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Arleta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Maywood CES on the 3rd. As for Grant, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-1 defeat against Van Nuys on the 30th.
