Softball Game Preview: Honeoye Bulldogs vs. Dundee/Bradford Central BraveScots

Honeoye hasn't had much luck against Dundee/Bradford Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will take on the BraveScots at 5:00 p.m. Honeoye has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Honeoye is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Naples.

Meanwhile, Dundee/Bradford Central entered their tilt with Red Jacket on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on Red Jacket with a sharp 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the BraveScots, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Morgan Sutryk was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Reese Simpson was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maddie Knapp, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Dundee/Bradford Central pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Honeoye, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Honeoye suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Dundee/Bradford Central in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
