Baseball Recap: Cresskill Victorious

Cresskill hadn't done well against Midland Park recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cougars skirted past the Panthers 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Panthers back in April, they had to take a 11-7 loss.

Luke Kopczynski made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Kopczynski wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Jang, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Cresskill's win bumped their record up to 15-10-1. As for Midland Park, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-8-1.

Cresskill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midland Park, they will challenge Butler at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
