Meanwhile, Brilliant played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 66-6 loss at the hands of Hubbertville. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-0.

South Lamar's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Brilliant, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for South Lamar against Brilliant in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-6 victory.
