Smyrna is a perfect 8-0 against Sussex Central since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will challenge the Golden Knights at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

On Friday, Smyrna didn't have quite enough to beat Indian River and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Sussex Central fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Lake Forest on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that Sussex Central have lost by just one goal.

Sussex Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Smyrna, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Smyrna took their win against Sussex Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
