Softball Recap: Rock Hill's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Rock Hill came into Thursday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Northwestern Trojans 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bearcats have posted since February 20, 2024.

Karamia Cunningham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Charity Chisholm and Madelyn Coye did most of the damage at the plate: Chisholm went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Coye went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Coye has posted since back in March.

Rock Hill's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-14. As for Northwestern, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Rock Hill and Northwestern will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Bearcats see the field they'll take on Catawba Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Northwestern, their break will end when they face Chester at 5:00 p.m. on the 29th.
