Volleyball Recap: Shepard Takes a Loss

Shepard entered their game against Argo on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Astros fell just short of the Argonauts by a score of 2-1. The Astros were not able to make up for their defeat to the Argonauts from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Shepard started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-18.

Oliver Bilik paced Shepard's offense, picking up nine kills. Bilik got some help from Conor Harkala and his 25 assists. Finally, Kamil Antolak and Mikolaj Drag kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked five attacks.

Shepard's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-9. As for Argo, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Coming up, Shepard will challenge Reavis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Argo, they will square off against Marmion at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Argonauts are facing the Cadets at the right time seeing as the Cadets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
