Preview: Carson Cougars vs. Northwest Cabarrus Trojans

The Carson Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Carson has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Northwest Cabarrus will arrive with six straight wins.

Last Friday, Carson suffered a tough 46-24 loss at the hands of Lake Norman Charter. Carson has not had much luck with Lake Norman Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Carson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rylee Hedrick, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and seven steals, and Laila Furr who scored seven points along with three steals. Furr is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, Northwest Cabarrus put the finishing touches on their 16th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They really took it to East Rowan for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-19 victory on the road. With Northwest Cabarrus ahead 31-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Carson's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Carson took a serious blow against Northwest Cabarrus when the teams last played back in January, falling 65-17. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Carson was down 47-11.
