Basketball Recap: Anelyna Cavazos Key Part of a Team Effort in Falcons Win

Lifegate Christian posted their closest win since February 24, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Annapolis Christian Academy Warriors, sneaking past 31-28. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Warriors are ranked 1519th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lifegate Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anelyna Cavazos, who posted seven points along with 24 boards and four steals. Cavazos is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. Amariah Perez was another key player, putting up eight points and seven steals.

Lifegate Christian's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Annapolis Christian Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sunnybrook Christian the next time they take the court. Lifegate Christian will host Sunnybrook Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Annapolis Christian Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
