Softball Game Preview: Cedar Hill Longhorns vs. Skyline Raiders

For the first time this season, Cedar Hill will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will face off against the Skyline Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Hill has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Skyline will come in with seven straight victories.

Cedar Hill's tournament run continued when they took on Spring Hill on Saturday. Cedar Hill lost 15-2 to Spring Hill.

While Skyline didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Adams with a sharp 13-4 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won seven matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jaylene Escobedo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned runs off ten hits. Escobedo was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Escobedo is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Mikiyah Butts was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. Daniela Delgado was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .475. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Skyline pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.5 runs. As for Cedar Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Cedar Hill took their win against Skyline when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 20-10. Does Cedar Hill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Skyline turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
