Basketball Game Preview: Somerset Prep vs. Key West Conchs

Having just played yesterday, Somerset Prep will get right back to it and host the Key West Conchs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.7 points per game this season.

Somerset Prep is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Schoolhouse Prep: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Somerset Prep blew Schoolhouse Prep out of the water with a 79-39 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-17.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somerset Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brianna Brown, who shot 4-for-4 from deep and dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten boards, and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in assists. Chardae Rumph was another key player, as she made all 7 shots she took racking up 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, Key West played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 54-31 to St. Brendan. While losing is never fun, the Conchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Sabres are ranked 266th).

Somerset Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Key West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-12.
