Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Worthington Kilbourne's Third in Last Four Outings

Worthington Kilbourne won the last time they faced Westland, and Zach Wolford did his part to make sure it happened again. The Worthington Kilbourne Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over the Westland Cougars on Tuesday thanks in part to Wolford, who went 8 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Those 19 points gave him a new career-high.

Tate Rich was another key player, putting up nine points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Breaker Heller Jr., who posted 12 points along with eight assists and four steals. Heller Jr. has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Barrett, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points.

Worthington Kilbourne is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Westland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Worthington Kilbourne has already played their next contest, a 40-38 defeat against Dublin Scioto on the 24th. As for Westland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 95-47 loss against Aiken on the 25th.
