Basketball Recap: Maret Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Maret ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Frogs have posted since January 18th.

Maret had a senior duo take command as London Liley dropped a double-double with 33 points and 11 rebounds and Kennedy Austin dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Those 33 points gave Liley a new career-high. Marissa Fernandez was another key player, putting up six points.

Maret was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown Visitation Prep only four assists.

Georgetown Visitation Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Charlotte West, who on her way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Becca Safavian, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Maret has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. Georgetown Visitation Prep's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-12.

Maret has already played their next matchup, an 82-45 loss against Bullis on the 21st. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, they will square off against Coolidge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Georgetown Visitation Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
