Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Archbishop Hannan's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Archbishop Hannan unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-match winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Carmel Cubs. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Archbishop Hannan was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23.

Mt. Carmel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Lopez out in front who had 15 digs. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Emma Palermo was another key player, getting ten digs and two aces.

Archbishop Hannan's defeat dropped their record down to 25-8. As for Mt. Carmel, their victory was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 31-3.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Hannan will take on John Curtis Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Carmel, they will challenge John Ehret at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
