Baseball Recap: Wiregrass Comes Up Short

Wiregrass extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-8. They fell 7-3 to the Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on Saturday.

Wiregrass saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Tucker, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Tucker has hit this season.

As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On Tuscaloosa Home Educators' side, Saul Watson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. Watson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Warriors are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AJ Gray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Coming up, Wiregrass is taking a road trip to face off against Southern Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heritage Christian at 7:00 p.m. on April 7.
