Softball Game Preview: Edison Spartans vs. Spencer-Van Etten/Candor Eagles

For the second week in a row, Edison is taking on Spencer-Van Etten/Candor. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Edison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.1 runs per game this season.

Edison's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Spencer-Van Etten/Candor with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emily Aiello was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kailey Ripley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Edison lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Edison and bumps their season record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
