Recap: Hardaway Hawks vs. Northside Patriots
The Hardaway Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Northside on the road to the tune of 91-62. Given Hardaway's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Northside is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hardaway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Benton, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Benton hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Antonio Dortch, who scored 13 points.
Northside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barrington Adams, who scored 30 points. Adams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Saylor, who scored 17 points.
Hardaway pushed their record up to 13-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Northside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.
Hardaway will head out on the road to challenge Westover at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Westover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Northside, they will be playing at home against Northgate at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northgate will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
