Basketball Game Preview: Hagerty Huskies vs. Oviedo Lions

The Hagerty Huskies will face off against the Oviedo Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hagerty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.

Hagerty is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since January 19, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Lake Howell, falling 72-49. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Silverhawks are ranked 31st).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Josiah Ortiz, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Morrow, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Oviedo was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 52-51 to Lake Brantley. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match pitted two dominant forwards against one another in Cameron Bryant and Dean Adkins. Adkins had a great game and went 6 of 13 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Meanwhile, Bryant did his best for the losing side, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Oviedo's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Hagerty, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
