Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Wando

Wando extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 14-8 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Goose Creek Gators a 10-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 on Monday.

Wando let Corbin Martens and Brady Gold run wild. Martens went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Gold went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those three hits gave Martens a new career-high. Jake Downing was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Wando was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Goose Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13-2 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it nine in a row.

On Goose Creek's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tre Adams, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.

Wando will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gators: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
