Softball Game Preview: Andover Huskies vs. Champlin Park Rebels

The Andover Huskies will venture away from home to take on the Champlin Park Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Andover will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Andover's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Robbinsdale Armstrong 9-0. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Alex Kostecka made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taegen Groess, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Avery Stock, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Andover kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Champlin Park). Everything went their way against Kennedy on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Rebels with their most commanding win of the season.

Champlin Park now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Andover, their record is now 17-3.

Andover was able to grind out a solid victory over Champlin Park in their previous meeting last Saturday, winning 6-3. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
