Football Game Preview: Garner Trojans vs. Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders

The Garner Trojans will square off against the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Garner is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Cape Fear, posting a 63-26 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-7.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 40-19 margin over the Hornets. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Hornets are ranked 81st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Garner better keep an eye on Conner Lindsey. He was instrumental in Cardinal Gibbons' win, throwing for 273 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Aaron Anderson helped Lindsey out on the ground, rushing for 92 yards, while also catching one touchdown.

Garner's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Garner was dealt a bruising 51-14 defeat at the hands of Cardinal Gibbons in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Crusaders' Gannon Jones, who rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 259 yards and three TDs.
