Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies
Westminster is 8-2 against Godinez Fundamental since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Westminster Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Westminster sitting on four straight wins and Godinez Fundamental on ten.
Even though Katella scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Westminster still came out on top. Westminster took down Katella 84-70.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westminster to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vincent Ton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Tran, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Even though Godinez Fundamental has not done well against Ocean View recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Godinez Fundamental walked away with a 62-54 victory over Ocean View. That's two games straight that Godinez Fundamental has won by exactly eight points.
Westminster has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Godinez Fundamental, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6.
Westminster and Godinez Fundamental were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup on January 9th, but Westminster came up empty-handed after a 59-58 defeat. Can Westminster avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
