Softball Game Preview: Rising Sun Shiners vs. North Decatur Chargers

For the second straight game, Rising Sun will face off against North Decatur. The Shiners are taking a road trip to challenge the Chargers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rising Sun will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Rising Sun's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over North Decatur. Considering the Shiners have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Elaina Titkemeyer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rising Sun got a massive performance out of Tamryn Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and three doubles. Those three doubles gave Miller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Merica, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Rising Sun's victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for North Decatur, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
