Football Game Preview: Roosevelt Presidents vs. Wallkill Panthers

The Roosevelt Presidents will venture away from home to square off against the Wallkill Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Roosevelt is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They were beaten by Minisink Valley 49-6. While losing is never fun, the Presidents can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Warriors are ranked 60th).

Meanwhile, Wallkill played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 50-30 to Our Lady of Lourdes. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Roosevelt will need to focus on slowing down Jj Detz, one of several Wallkill players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Ayden Larue, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Wallkill's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Roosevelt took a serious blow against Wallkill in their previous matchup back in September of 2019, falling 55-7. Can the Presidents avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
