Pocono Mountain East is 9-1 against East Stroudsburg South since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Pocono Mountain East will welcome East Stroudsburg South at 4:15 p.m. Pocono Mountain East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Pocono Mountain East took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against William Allen by a score of 9-4.
Camryn Sopko was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Sopko was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Justin Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lucas Angst was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, East Stroudsburg South didn't have quite enough to beat Tamaqua on Saturday and fell 4-3.
East Stroudsburg South saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Huffman, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Pocono Mountain East's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for East Stroudsburg South, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
East Stroudsburg South's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pocono Mountain East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. It's a different story for East Stroudsburg South, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain Pocono Mountain East's hitters?
Pocono Mountain East beat East Stroudsburg South 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Pocono Mountain East repeat their success, or does East Stroudsburg South has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
