Basketball Recap: Long Beach Bearcats vs. West Harrison Hurricanes
Long Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 61-26 loss at the hands of the West Harrison Hurricanes. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-12 back in December of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Long Beach saw an underclassman step up: freshman Paityn Langley posted 13 points and six boards. That was a full 50% of Long Beach's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.
West Harrison got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydnei Barber out in front who had 19 points. Jazlee Deschamp was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.
Long Beach's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for West Harrison, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2.
