Basketball Game Preview: Griggs County Central/Midkota Cougars vs. Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars duke it out with the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Griggs County Central/Midkota is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Griggs County Central/Midkota was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Larimore.

Meanwhile, Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 57-49 to New Rockford-Sheyenne. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Rockets are ranked 32nd).

Griggs County Central/Midkota's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Benson County [Leeds/Maddock], their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Everything went Griggs County Central/Midkota's way against Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Griggs County Central/Midkota made off with a 65-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Griggs County Central/Midkota since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
