Baseball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Jesuit Marauders

The Whitney Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Jesuit Marauders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whitney will be strutting in after a win while Jesuit will be coming in after a defeat.

Whitney hadn't beaten Oak Ridge on the road since May 18, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 4-1. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.

Zach Laduzinski looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Whitney's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Osterhout, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Jesuit has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.69 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 13-2 to Rocklin. The Marauders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Teddy Rios was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

The win made it two in a row for Whitney and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
