For the second straight game, Valley will face off against Derry. The Vikings will host the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Derry and fell 4-2.

For Derry's part, Max Doherty and Cason Long made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Doherty struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Long tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Doherty got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Long went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Sacco, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Liam Mcmahon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Derry's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Valley, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Derry struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
