Soccer Recap: Venice Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Venice kept a clean sheet against Fairfax on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged the Fairfax Lions out 1-0. Given the Gondoliers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Lions are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Venice's one-goal win came courtesy of Billy Quinn, who's now up to 18 this season.

Venice has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those eight matchups. As for Fairfax, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-5-3 record.

Venice will challenge Palisades on Saturday. Venice is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season. As for Fairfax, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Fairfax challenge the University at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
