Softball Recap: Gorton Takes a Loss

Gorton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen, falling 24-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 15-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Gorton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yeimy Cardenas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Kiara De La Cruz, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Gorton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Sleepy Hollow, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Gorton will take on Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sleepy Hollow, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Port Chester at 4:45 p.m. on the 30th.
