Softball Recap: Burnsville Blaze vs. Apple Valley Eagles
Burnsville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-3 in the process. They came up short against the Apple Valley Eagles, falling 14-1. The Blaze were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Burnsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Gerber, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Gerber has snagged this season.
As for Apple Valley, their record now sits at 4-11. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Apple Valley's side, Amelia Duran made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Duran was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Apple Valley got a massive performance out of Olivia Duran, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Duran a new career-high. Abby Larson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Burnsville will face off against Shakopee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apple Valley, they will square off against Richfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
