Softball Game Preview: Reedsburg Beavers vs. Stoughton Vikings

The Reedsburg Beavers will head out on the road to square off against the Stoughton Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Reedsburg has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Reedsburg will head out to face Stoughton after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Beavers fell just short of McFarland by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Beavers have suffered since March 28th.

Reedsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Molitor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Stoughton owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sauk Prairie with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Madelyn Barsness's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Camille Buell was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Matheny, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Stoughton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sauk Prairie struck out 14 times.

Stoughton's record now sits at 5-9. As for Reedsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Reedsburg suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Stoughton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
