Basketball Recap: 18 Straight Home Wins for Kent Denver

Kent Denver came tearing into Tuesday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.1 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Colorado Academy Mustangs 84-65. The Sun Devils pushed the score to 73-47 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Kent Denver's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elvis Lloyd led the charge by going 8-for-15 on his way to 17 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Caleb Fay, who posted 18 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Kent Denver smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 24 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Colorado Academy still got an impressive performance from Clyde Love, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. Love's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Mattias Pereira also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
