Rock Canyon and Mountain Vista are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Jaguars will take on the Golden Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Rock Canyon was able to grind out a solid victory over Heritage, taking the game 12-9. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Damian Fischer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Fischer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Will Wendeborn looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rock Canyon is undefeated when Wendeborn allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Zach Perry was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Thomas Shank, who went 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista faced Regis Jesuit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Raiders. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Chase Ruden tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season.
At the plate, Alex King was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jackson Crawford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Mountain Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory (which was Mountain Vista's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rock Canyon, their record now sits at 6-4.
