Basketball Recap: Lithonia Bulldogs vs. Southwest DeKalb Panthers

Lithonia lost against Southwest DeKalb back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lithonia Bulldogs lost 60-37 to the Southwest DeKalb Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Panthers are ranked 29th).

Leading Southwest DeKalb to victory were Kelvin Peek, III and Jackson Ushery. Peek, III went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points along with six boards and five blocks, while Ushery posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Peek, III a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Messiah Mergan, who earned four points and six rebounds.

Lithonia is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17. As for Southwest DeKalb, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Lithonia will head out on the road to square off against Marist at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will host Clarkston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest DeKalb knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Clarkston likes a good challenge.
