The Lytle Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Burbank Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Burbank will be up against a hot Lytle squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Lytle put the hurt on Cotulla with a sharp 8-1 victory on Friday. The Pirates not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th.

Weston Jackson was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Lytle: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Mason Hill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Lytle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cotulla only posted an OBP of .208.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Burbank made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sam Houston on Friday. Burbank's pitchers stepped up to hand Sam Houston a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Mason Rendon and Ivan Hernandez made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Rendon pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hernandez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. At bat, Rendon scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hernandez went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Hernandez has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Nathaniel Boone and Matthew Meza did most of the damage at the plate: Boone scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Meza scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, Boone posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Herrera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Burbank has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing eight strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.29 in the others. Lytle now has a winning record of 10-9.
Lytle couldn't quite finish off Burbank in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 and fell 9-7. Can Lytle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
