Baseball Recap: Holy Name Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Holy Name can now relate to. They fell 3-0 to the Lake Catholic Cougars on Thursday. The Green Wave have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Dom Marchetta was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Holy Name saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Nemeth, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Holy Name's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Lake Catholic, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-4.

Holy Name does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Catholic, they have already played their next matchup, a 4-3 win against Walsh Jesuit on the 31st.
