Basketball Game Preview: Temple Christian Eagles vs. Oakridge Owls

Two dominant guards in Jessie Dejesus and Aaron Greenberg are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Temple Christian Eagles take on the Oakridge Owls at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday... The timing is sure in Temple Christian's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Oakridge has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Temple Christian picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They blew past North Side 67-44. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Grant Walker and Dejesus were among the main playmakers for Temple Christian as the former went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven boards and six steals and the latter went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points. Those six steals gave Walker a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Oakridge came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 53-47 victory over Dallas Christian two weeks ago.

Temple Christian better keep an eye on Greenberg. He was instrumental in Oakridge's win, going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and three blocks. The contest was Greenberg's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Frazier, who posted eight points.

Temple Christian now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Oakridge, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Temple Christian has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Oakridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
